My Hubby's Birthday!

On August 16th we celebrated my Phil's 29th birthday! I can't believe only one more year until he is 30! We started dating when he was only 18! Time sure flies! Well for his birthday celebration we went to Cedar Point. It's an awesome amusement park right here in Sandusky, Ohio. They have the best roller coasters in the world! (seriously, they do!)

I had a lot of fun on the rides we rode, but we were there for seven hours, spent 200 dollars and rode three rides, ate once, and played in the arcade! The lines were sooooo long! We spent 6 hours in line total and rode each ride an average of 60 seconds! I love, love, love, amusement parks but seriously, they have to do something about those lines!

In celebration of my first giveaway ever I am hosting two giveaways in the month of August! The second giveaway will be August 15th! Visit her Etsy shop at www.mommyslittlehelper.etsy.com or to learn more about her, visit her own blog at http://1maddieandmommy.blogspot.com/!!

She has so many awesome items such as:

The Monster Berry Wild Bunch Family; soap for your little ones that make them actually want to wash their hands!
Bath Salts where you choose the color! This mixture of Epsom and Dead Sea Salt is wonderful for the skin and muscles!

SHE EVEN HAS A CLOTHING BOUTIQUE!
Pink Cloud with a Silver Lining! This A-line style dress, falls below the knee (on an average child). This dark silver fabric is a faux Dupioni Silk, which is actually polyester and therefore easier to maintain and completely washable.

AND NOW DRUM ROLL PLEASE...........................................................................................
YOU CAN ENTER FOR A CHANCE TO WIN ONE OF MY FAVORITE PRODUCTS:

Set of (3) Small BOO BOO Bags!!

Description: The magic lies in the fact that these can be frozen for on hand ice pack, but they can go from freezer to microwave and used as a heat pack for sore muscles! This set of 3 small boo boo bags also have the grosgrain ribbon "handle" for little hands to hold the pack on the injury. These too are stuffed with her signature Lavender scent (in this case, actual dried lavender flowers) and have proved as good as Mommy's Kisses to help calm an injured child. These are also GREAT for nursing mothers (especially *new* nursing mothers)!

***Contest closes midnight on August 15th. Winner will be chosen by random on August 17th. Winner has 2 days to respond or gift is forfeited and another winner will be chosen. Check back to see if you won!

To Enter: Please post a comment on my blog telling me why boo boo bags are the greatest invention ever (please leave a valid email address)! If you cannot leave a comment please email me at zagorianosg@yahoo.com

FANTASTIC FIND FOR AUGUST!

Changing Mat That's Changing Minds

Rather than argue about the value of a changing table, I'd much rather complain about the crappy changing pad options out there. Most are incredibly flimsy, and require covers that end up in the wash almost as often as I'm changing diapers. The genius Kuster Jellybaby Changing Mat however is made from pvc-free memory foam which wipes cleans (yes wipes!) in a snap. If you're still feeling the need for a cover, the washable cotton liner is actually pretty stylish but I wouldn't bother. The mat is warm to the touch, and it forms to the shape of your baby so it's totally comfy!

AUGUST Featured Recipe

What better way to create a long lasting memory with your sister(s), then over a nice cup of tea?! In celebration of Sister's Day August 6th, 2008, the recipe that I will feature for my once a monthers is:

White Chocolate Pecan Scones

Ingredients
2 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 ounces white chocolate (good quality, such as Lindt, cut into chunks)
3/4 cup chopped pecans (leave large chunks)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Cut butter into flour mix with a pastry blender or food processor, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In a small bowl, stir together the mil, egg and vanilla
Add the cream mixture to the flour mixture and knead until combined. Knead in the white chocolate and pecans.
With lightly flouredhands, pat the dough out on a floured work surface to a thickness of 5/8 inch.

Cut into wedges, squares or whatever you like. ( I have a teapot cookie cutter that works really cute)

Bake scones on ungreased baking sheet for 15 to 20 minutes, or until lightly browned on top. Cool on baking sheet 5 minutes, then transfer scones to cooling rack. Serve warm or cool completely and store in an airtight container. Makes 8.
Since this is the recipe of the month, if you make this recipe, please send me a picture of your scones to post on my blog. All pictures due by August 25th.
